RB Jameel Poteat Picks Pitt | July
[caption id="attachment_1315" align="alignleft" width="201" caption="Jameel Poteat becomes the next great Bishop McDevitt player to commit to the Panthers (MaxPreps.com)"][/caption] So much for jinxing it.  Elite Pennsylvania running back Jameel Poteat committed to Pitt today after considering offers from Florida, USC, Notre Dame, Iowa, Rutgers and Cincinnati.  Further, he continues the Bishop McDevitt pipeline, which includes another famous back by the name LeSean "Mountaineer Killer" McCoy. Poteat also has Pitt in his blood - he's the cousin of former Panther Hank Poteat.  Poteat is a 4-star man as decided by recruiting sites Rivals and ESPN.  ESPN particularly likes him:
Poteat is one of the more complete backs in this class. Great size, feet, in-line strength as well as good blocking and receiving skills make up this guy's total package.
Poteat (5'11", 195), has all the tools to be a brief understudy to Ray Graham in 2011.  Last season he ran for 1,664 yards and 24 touchdowns with a 6.3 ypg. Poteat has been a star in Harrisburg for years, but it appears that the limelight was getting a bit too bright:
“It’s great people care like that, I have to be honest; and believe me, I appreciate it. But it’s gotten to be a little ridiculous sometimes. I’m playing in a seven-on-seven league and someone came up to my mom asking her. My mom can’t sit down and watch me play without someone asking her.” ... “I want to make sure I get it right, wherever I go,” Poteat said. “It is nice to be wanted and getting all of this attention. I’m blessed to be in this position, I really am. It’s why I want to make my choice. This has been like a job. I’m looking forward to just relaxing. I can’t wait until this is done so I can go back to being a big kid again and enjoying myself.”

Welcome to Pitt, Jameel.

UPDATE 1: KDKA is the first with the story. They also confirm that Terrell Chestnut will commit to Pitt tomorrow.

UPDATE 2: The Post-Gazette's story is now up, as is PennLive's. Starting to get the feeling I wasn't the only one who did his writing in advance.
